I've been awful about blogging

So, it would seem that I am not really in the blogging habit, so it has been quite some time since I last wrote one.

Nothing too terribly exciting has happened here lately. We are currently on week 7 of our 10 week training for our half marathon. A part of me is still very hard core about wanting to do it, and another part of me is really thrilled with my accomplishments this far (longest straight run without any walking 6 1/2 miles) and would be really happy committing to doing hour cardio sessions now instead of 20-30 minutes or committing to running 3 miles at least each time and 5 miles once a week. Sam is very very serious about this, so I am going to do my best to keep up with him and encourage him to continue. Anyone who runs I am sure can attest to things being a lot easier if you have a partner!

Sam was fortunate to get to go to Murfreesboro this past weekend and spend some quality time with some of his favorite family members. He always remembers fondly things that he did whenever he was on Illinois trips or whenever some of his cousins would come to visit. I had planned to go, but some unplanned circumstances came up that made it impossible for me to go by the time Sam needed to leave. I was very disappointed that I had to stay, but decided instead of moping the whole weekend that I would go see a baseball game, do some exercise and watch a girlie movie. I actually really enjoyed myself.

This weekend we are thrilled to have Sam's parents come up until Tuesday. I am really excited to get to spend some quality time with them and not have to rush off somewhere else or to visit someone else. We can have a relaxing time together and do whatever we want! I am still working hard to try and be a little more spontaneous, but it can be challenging since I like to know what is going on at all times. I attribute this to the control freak in me. :)

My mom just had one of her cataracts removed on Tuesday and she is very pleased with the results! She said she can see almost perfectly, but as the inflammation in her eye goes down her vision should get sharper and sharper. In a couple of weeks she will have her other one done. Yea, something for me to look forward to in about 15 years (inspiring words from my eye doctor)!

Finally, next week Sam and I will be volunteering our time to help out with VBS at our church. We are supposed to help take groups of children to the rooms and help out in any of the demonstrations that take place with the instructors. I'm excited, but a little nervous being that I have never done anything like this before. I know their minds are very very fragile, especially when it comes to matters of faith, and I want to make sure that if they have any serious questions I can Biblically explain things or help clarify things for them. Let's face it, there are a lot of Pastor's out there that are misinterpreting things that are very clear in the Bible only to promote liberalism and acceptance of things God has said are not good for us.
